Obituary

Harry G. Sheppard, Jr., 62, of Haslet, TX, passed away January 27, 2011. He was born March 28, 1948 in Bridgeton, N.J. to Harry and Agnes Sheppard. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister, Virginia Ganley.

Harry served his country during tumultuous times, volunteering for the Army, attaining the rank of Captain. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. While serving as forward observer and platoon leader during his first tour, he was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. During his second tour as company commander he received another Purple Heart and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Silver Star for "Gallantry in Action Against the Enemy."

Harry met and married his love, Patricia Wylie Sheppard while stationed at Ft. Hood, Tx. They married in 1968 and spent their next 43 years raising their family. After leaving the Army, Harry spent many years working in the food/grocery industry, and made many friends while working at PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, El Lago & Albertson's.

He is survived by his wife Pat, his brother Frank, sisters Ginny and Mary Jane, daughter Shannon and husband David Cantu of Round Rock, son John Sheppard and wife Debbie, of Austin, son Harry Sheppard and wife Jennifer of Haslet, nephew Charles Allen, III and wife Mary Jane of Humble, niece Wylie Rolon and husband Luisel of Spokane, and 11 grandchildren.

Full military graveside services will be held at Killeen City Cemetery, 2/1/2011 at 11:00 a.m.
