COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Robert Lawrence Campbell, 62, will be held Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 14, 2009 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Campbell, husband of the late Catherine Harriet Fry Campbell, died Monday, May 11, 2009. Born in Vineland, N.J., he was the son of the late Robert Faulkner and Jane Edwards Campbell. Mr. Campbell attended and graduated from Baptist College and earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of South Carolina. He served in the US Army as a Sergeant and Mortarman during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Campbell worked at South Carolina Department of Corrections and Three Rivers Behavioral Center, where he enjoyed his career as a clinical social worker. He enjoyed wood working, reading and gardening. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Surviving are a his children, William E. Ridgeway of Cayce, Laura C. Bolchoz of Mt. Pleasant and David B. Campbell of Lexington; eight grandchildren; and three sisters, Barbara Angelucci, Sally Graves and Bobbie Schmidt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Joan Hightower Lewis Endowment Fund, 300 Ministry Drive, Irmo, S. C. 29063.

Robert Lawrence Campbell, Larry, was a former mortarman with Weapons Platoon, A Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry during the Vietnam War.
