After the service there will be time to visit this moving memorial to the victims of September 11. Note: you have probably learned from the news media of a recent devastating fire at the Flight 93 Memorial. The fire was actually at the park headquarters buildings, two miles from the memorial site. Some irreplaceable artifacts were lost, however there was no damage to the memorial or the visitors center.

The buses will move between the locations (details not final). You may choose to spend some time at the Rivers Casino, then visit another location.

Rivers Casino

The casino features over 2,900 slot machines, more than 100 table games, including a 30 table poker room. It has nine bars and restaurants. Adjacent to the casino is the Carnegie Science Center. If you are travelling with children, this museum is the place to visit. It features hundreds of hands on exhibits. It has a large model train display and an actual cold war era submarine open for tours.

Station Square

Station Square is a 52 acre river front complex in a restored train station. It features shopping and dining. It is also the location of Just Ducky Tours. Just Ducky Tours is a one hour narrated tour through the streets and rivers of downtown Pittsburgh. Passengers ride in a WWII amphibious vehicle that goes from street to river and back to street. We will need to provide Ducky Tours with approximately how many people will be going. If you want to go on the tour indicate so on the reunion registration form, but do not send any money for the tour. The cost is dependent on the number of passengers. Anticipated cost is approximately $20.

Also, available at Station Square is the Monongahela Incline. This incline railcar transports passengers to the top of Mt. Washington for a birds eye view of Pittsburgh and the three rivers. It is a popular tourist attraction and also transports thousands of commuters each day.

The Strip District

The Strip District is a dining and shopping venue. It is so named because it is located on a strip of land sandwiched between the Allegheny River and a mountain. The buses from downtown will return to the hotel at approximately 3:00 pm.
