At the time, Quang Ngai was the third largest city in South Vietnam.  In the center of the city, roads were made of rock, dirt, and mud.  At this intersection, marked by anti-Viet Cong signs, the convoy turned left and headed towards the western edge of Quang Ngai and the final link in the road to FSB Hill 4-11.
