While Dave and his team were there on one visit, a water buffalo was slaughtered. Within one hour the entire animal was gone: head, feet, and entrails. Everything!

Shown here is one of the community wells and latrines. At the well, people bathed, washed clothes, and got their drinking water. Notice how close the well was to the latrine.

The 3rd Battalion, 1st Infantry, in conjunction with the District Chief and MACV, obtained materials and labor to build the above aid station in Tu My so the villagers would have some source of medical care other than the weekly MEDCAP (Medical Civic Action Program) missions provided by the medical platoon. The medical platoon supplied the local medic with several boxes of medicine and supplies. The next day the local medic and all the supplies were gone. He never returned, and the aid station was never used.
